Focus BBQ
Located at 18558 Gale Ave #272, City of Industry, CA 91748, Focus BBQ stands out as a popular dining destination, especially for those craving a smoky and authentic BBQ experience. This restaurant is well-known for its raw and "undercooked" skewers, offering a unique, flavorful experience that is hard to match. The skewers are consistently seasoned well, with a smoky taste that keeps customers coming back for more. Many patrons enjoy pairing their skewers with wasabi and vinegar for an extra kick, making for a satisfying combination.
What sets Focus BBQ apart from other eateries in the area is its late-night hours, staying open until 2 AM. This makes it a great spot for night owls or anyone in search of a late-night meal. The portion sizes are also a highlight, offering generous servings that surpass some competitors, providing good value for the price.
While the food quality receives high praise, the service at Focus BBQ can sometimes be slow, especially during peak hours. Despite this, the staff is known for being friendly and accommodating, working through language barriers with a positive attitude. The restaurant has a typical Chinese style of service, which can feel a bit different from the American-style dining experience, but the staff’s willingness to assist ensures a pleasant visit.
The restaurant offers a variety of dishes, including a solid selection of greens, which pairs well with the smoky grilled items. The atmosphere is casual, and while some reviews mention occasional cleanliness concerns, like cardboard containers outside the restaurant, the overall experience remains favorable for those who are focused on enjoying the food.
For those seeking something extra special, the fried milk is highly recommended-a unique treat that’s definitely worth trying. Whether you’re a regular or a first-time visitor, Focus BBQ promises a memorable meal and an experience that will leave you craving more.
Focus BBQ Reviews
3.75 star overall. 2nd take-out visit two days in a row. Surprised at the portion and good taste given the overall 3 star review. My family was pretty satisfied with the taste and would return. Tastes authentic and do-able. 4.5 star food. On Both take out orders, the skewers felt a little cooler than I was expecting to be fresh off the grill. But the taste is good and portion is much larger than Little Skewers, so this alone makes it feel more worth it to return. 3 star service. Service was average typical China-Chinese, non-American style. Waited quite a long time to order take out as they seems to be busy & short staffed Friday night around 10 pm. Ordered again next evening on Saturday around 5:30 pm and barely any customers at that time so the order was fast. 3 star other. Friday night, the restaurant dining area and the whole plaza, in general, smells like cigarettes. So many smokers seem to hang out in that plaza at that time. Not a pleasant smell walking around. The restaurant also habitually leaves cardboard containers and boxes out on the walkway (right outside the restaurant kitchen door) which makes the restaurant look very China-ghetto. I wish they didn't do that. Is that even legal to be leaving trash out on the walkway like that? So the standard of cleanliness and organization brings down the restaurant a notch. Overall, I would return from time to time if I happen to feel like it.
There's not many establishments that are open till 2AM, but when I found Focus BBQ here in the City of Industry, I've been coming here almost 3 times a week. Do you have a great selection of food with a decent selection of greens as well. Customer service is impeccable and very attentive. Grateful for what they offer and hope anyone nearby to check them out to experience what I have. You will not be disappointed. And I dare you to try the fried milk! It is something you would definitely need to experience...
I am from the part of the China where the food is from. I can tell you it is very authentic and delicious. The service is good and fast too. I come here every time I am back to LA.
Revisited yesterday & food was good as always, just delivered with weird gaps of time inbetween each order. This is one of the places I go to when craving raw or "undercooked" skewers as the flavor is smoky and always seasoned well. I always get some wasabi & vinegar on the side as a dip and it never misses. Service is a bit slow but always friendly and do their best as we have a language barrier but they're always happy to help.
